Locations

The Exam Schedule lists the locations where DEP conducts operator qualification tests. Please consult individual exam pages for additional guidelines, conditions and guidelines and exam information. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness or visual or hearing impairment, you should contact the exam provider directly and make sure to provide a detailed document at the time of registration.

Faculty can find their exam times through the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. The Registrar's Office also has a schedule of exam times for classes that must take an exam as per NYSED regulations. Final exams for classes that are held in the evenings are scheduled for the regular class time of the final exam weeks.

Registration

The exam schedule is available on the internet, and students are advised to look it up. However, it is important to note that the exam schedule could change at any time. Students should therefore check with their instructors to confirm the exact time and date of their test. Students should also print out the official list to take with them to their exam.

In addition to the exam schedule, students must familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines, the terms and conditions. These are available on the exam's individual page. After registering, students acknowledge that they accept these conditions and terms.

Exam sites try their best to accommodate participants who have special needs. The nature and extent of these needs must be noted on the registration form and verified by an attestation of a doctor. The locations for the exam must respect and maintain confidentiality.

If a student is scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they must contact their department or instructor to schedule a make-up test. Although it is possible to take three exams in one day, it could cause a high stress level and can impact the quality of the exam. The professor might not be able give an additional test to make up for the missed day.

Before taking the exam Students must prepare for the exam by studying their course material and practice their German skills. The test is a paper-based test which assesses the ability to speak, read, and write in German. The results of the examination are presented using a scale ranging from A1 to C2. Students who succeed in passing the test are awarded an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies that the student has reached language level A1. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competence set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free of cost. Students must bring a valid government-issued ID to the test. Those without a valid photo identification will be disqualified.

Fees

You must pay an exam fee for the opportunity to receive the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies.  Full Write-up  is in addition to the cost of the course.

Practice assessments allow you to get an understanding of the style of the test, the language, and the difficulty of the questions on the test. They allow you to assess your knowledge, spot gaps and improve your chances of acing the exam.

Please be aware that the fee for exams is non-refundable. Examination results can only be accessed via email, not via telephone.
